When you consider Hawaii, you think natural paradise. This hotel is in the heart of Waikiki and the beaches you're near aren't the best because they're crowded from other hotels, there's rocks in the sand as you wade into the ocean, and you're surrounded by buildings. That said, if you use this hotel as a base to get out of the city, it's perfect. They offer all kinds of beach supplies like towels, chairs, snorkeling gear, and boogie boards as part of your resort fee. They also give you a free ticket to the Bishop Museum, a very generous gift, and the museum is amazing. Highly recommend. The Coconut staff are friendly, efficient, and make your stay pleasant. I didn't have any questions they couldn't answer, and it felt nice to see familiar faces often. Parking is high, and there's really no parking outside of the hotel, so factor that in if you're thinking of renting a car. It's similar to other properties, though, so you're stuck with this extra fee regardless. My room was very quiet and the elevator worked really well. There was a stain on the carpet, but it was a large comfortable room, and I enjoyed staying there. You might need to tell housekeeping to clean out certain things, but overall, they do a good job. I really appreciated having a fridge and microwave because food is extremely expensive to dine out. I brought granola and bought milk, which saved me when I didn't feel like spending a ton on breakfast or going out right away as there is no restaurant in the hotel. Lastly, they have a water station where you can refill your water bottle, and I really liked that perk. It tasted really good, was cool and refreshing after a day out in the sun. This is a very pleasant budget hotel and apparently has been around since the 70's as my friend also stayed her with her children when she traveled here before.

For a boutique hotel, it's not a bad place to stay at all. It's within walking distance of all the major malls, restaurants, and beaches downtown without the overwhelming noise and the hustle and bustle on Kalakaua and Kuhio avenues. The rooms were updated and super clean, and housekeeping was militant about servicing the room. The beds and pillows were clean and comfortable. Kudos to our Valet Robert, after the first day we checked in, he automatically knew who we were and brought our car over quickly, he always smiled and was super enthusiastic to lend a helping hand and/or provide directions or information. The view from our balcony of the Ala Wai Canal and Waimanalo Ridge was a perfect way to wake up. The coffee bar in the lobby was great, nothing fancy, just good. The fridge and microwave really helped especially when we would bring some leftovers from our lunch or dinner we could easily store them and reheat them as needed. The brand-new AC units were awesome, super quiet, and efficient, unlike the clunky/noisy AC units you find at some hotels.

Good location and value for money in not having to stay so close to Waikiki beach but can still enjoy the facilities near the beach. It's about 15 mins walk from the hotel to Sheraton Waikiki (if you find it too expensive to stay there). The bus-stop is only 5 mins walk from the hotel to go to the city and Diamond Head area. If you are looking for budget and good hotel, this one is not to be missed.

Excellent location in central Waikiki, easy walking access to shopping, restaurants, and the beach. Front-desk staff and valet attendants were friendly and very helpful. The hotel was clean and well-maintained in general. The room included all basic amenities. There was a convenient water refill station on the ground floor as well as a coffee/tea station and free popcorn in the afternoon.

Munif

Very relaxed environment with lovely staff who were friendly and helpful. It was my first time to Honolulu so I asked a few questions on arrival and they were able to answer well. They also allowed us to stay in our room after we had booked an extra night because our flight was changed to an earlier date. We loved the coffee bar in the morning and popcorn available every afternoon.
